Happy new year and welcome to our first newsletter for 2017.
This month I'm delighted to welcome QIC and Geelong Football Club as LBG's newest members. Our colleagues at LBG UK also recently welcomed Generali Group, the world's third largest insurance group headquartered in Italy. They join over 200 companies who use LBG to measure and report their contributions to the community.
We concluded 2016 on a high note after hosting the Annual LBG Conference with delegates from across the corporate, government and for-purpose sectors in attendance. The conference theme ‘Leading the world in corporate community investment’ covered a range of topics including the sustainable development goals, LBG as a change agent for a more strategic approach to corporate community investment (CCI), shared value and measuring impact.
Importantly it was also the launch of our annual LBG Benchmark Report and State of Corporate Community Investment survey results. This month’s newsletter provides an overview of the results and identified challenges ahead for the CCI sector.
The conference itself provided an opportunity to reflect on these results as well as experiences and case studies from our members. It always serves as a good reminder that many of our members are in different phases of their CCI journey, and there was plenty of healthy debate and robust discussions about the future.
Most of all it reminded me that we have a group of organisations who are genuinely committed to utilising the LBG framework to ensure a genuine approach to CCI reporting. For those not currently using the LBG methodology, we urge you to sign-up for membership this year.
I’ve had feedback that many considered this year to be our best conference yet. We had more delegates than ever before. If you would like to provide any further feedback or have ideas on how we can make the conference even better in 2017 please send me a note.
Following the conference I also had the good fortune to spend a week with our international guest speaker Mike Tuffrey, Co-founder of LBG and Corporate Citizenship. Mike presented a series of talks for corporates: ‘Keeping it real – maintaining authenticity in a fast moving world’, and posed an interesting challenge to the audience. I have shared some insights I gleaned from Mike's presentation here.
We look forward to connecting with you this year.
